About me
Hi, I’m Melody, a certified birth doula serving the Spokane area.
My love of birth has grown slowly and beautifully over the years. It first began when I became interested in holistic and natural health to help heal my hormones. Later, through two homebirths of my own — one with a posterior baby and one breech — that spark grew into a calling to walk alongside other women as they prepare their hearts, minds, and bodies for birth. Becoming a doula felt like the most natural next step in that journey.
For the past three years, I’ve supported friends through their births, and now, as a certified doula, I’m honored to extend that support to more families. My personality is calm, joyful, grounded, and encouraging — and I bring that peaceful energy into every birth space. Whether I’m quietly holding your hand, offering words of strength, or providing hands-on comfort, my heart is to help you feel empowered, accomplished, and at peace as you step into this sacred beginning with your baby.
My faith fully informs my love of life and birth. I believe that the Creator of life is tenderly present in the birthing room — the same God who “knit each of us together in our mother’s womb.” Birth, to me, is a deeply transformational experience that draws us nearer to the heart and strength of the Lord. While my work is rooted in my faith and shapes the way I see and honor birth, I am deeply committed to serving and supporting families of all beliefs and backgrounds with the same care, respect, and devotion.
When I’m not supporting families, you’ll find me sewing anything from bowl cozies to dragon costumes to clothes for myself, sipping a goat milk latte, or trying to sneak in a quiet bath with a podcast or book. Most days, though, you’ll find me reading Frog and Toad or bouncing on the trampoline with my two kiddos.
I chose the name Ahava because it’s the Hebrew word for “love,” but it carries a deeper meaning — a steadfast, self-giving kind of love. It’s the love that sustains a mother through carrying, birthing, and nurturing her child; the love that holds partners together through life’s seasons; and the love that God has for us — the kind of love that gives life room to flourish.
